About

Hi, I’m Nic. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Me!

I never seem to tire of reading and I’m one of those people who is always interested in what other people are reading too. In fact, I’ll go so far as to admit that I’m probably that weird girl sat opposite you on the bus or train who is surreptitiously trying to sneak a peek at the cover of your book and is admittedly making you feel a bit uncomfortable.

Don’t judge me.

Having reviewed books on Amazon for two years and then on Goodreads and Librarything, I finally decided to start my own blog. I’m a big fan of thrillers and mysteries so expect to see plenty of those featured on here, as well as contemporary fiction, food writing, historical fiction, romance, travel writing and a few classics thrown in for good measure. I read all sorts of genres, barring anything particularly religious or self-help books. No disrespect, but they aren’t really for me.

Hmm, what else? My other interests are pretty generic I suppose; I enjoy cooking, travelling, walking and spending time with family and friends. I also love it when the sun shines and we can spend time in the garden, growing our own fruit and vegetables. It’s safe to say I am definitely what is known as a ‘fair weather gardener’ though! I also like to travel when I can afford it. I  have two adorable cats who are my substitute children and live with my fiance in the Midlands, UK. I love my little family 🙂

I hope you enjoy my blog! Please stop by again.

  1. Great blog. I, too, love to know what other people are reading and you have reviewed some books that I haven’t read….yet. Now I know what to read next. Thank You.

  2. Dear Nic,
I was going to review the DVD “The White Planet”, but your review said it all.
From the way you describe yourself, I think that you’d really enjoy a book “The Star of the Sea” by Joseph O’Connor. It’s about a ship carrying Irish immigrants to New York in the 19th century. If that sounds unappealing, I thought so too, but in the eventuality I just couldn’t put it down.
    Kind regards,
    Michael Cherry
