‘Tom-All-Alone’s’ by Lynn Shepherd was sent to me for a review from Lovereading, prior to Christmas.
The elements were all there to make this a fantastic Victorian murder mystery, yet I must confess that I didn’t love it in the way that I’d been expecting- a view of which I seem to be in the minority. Oh well. The pace of the novel was just too slow for my tastes, though the writing itself was evocative and wonderful, really immersing the reader into 19th century London.
You can read what I, and some other Lovereading reviewers, thought of Tom-All-Alone’s here.
